How to De-Digitize

Remove numbers and paragraphs from a document:

Copy Text

  • Open the original document in Word
  • Select the text you want to change, i.e. select all pages of the text for example: Galatians.
  • Copy the entire text (only Galatians) - click right mouse button: copy - or Ctrl + c (windows shortcuts)

Create new Word document

  • Create a new document in Word

Paste Text into the new document

  • Insert text: click right mouse button: Paste or Ctrl and V

De-Digitize

  • Write in the search function of the header bar: replace
  • When the window opens, click on :
Find what: see function More below - Special - Any digit
Replace with - leave this empty
    Then click: replace all

If you made mistakes, close this window and use the undo function (the arrow on the upper left)

Take out all the Parapgraph Marks

  • These are the same steps as just explained, except you choose Paragraph Mark instead of Any Digit
  • Write in the search function of the header line: replace
  • When the window opens, click on:
Find what: see function More below - Special - Paragraph Mark

Align Text

  • Mark the entire Text or select the windows shortcut: ctrl + a
  • Then you align the text: Got to the Header Bar, chose Home and then: text alignment (under Review function): choose justify

Page Numbers

Then you may need page numbers, only if you have several pages.

  • Go to the top bar and use the search function: enter: page numbers at the bottom.
  • Go with the cursor before the number 1 and click - so you have the mouse cursor blinking before the page number 1 and then press the enter button, so you have a free space line between the text and the page numbers.
  • Format the page number as you wish by double-clicking on the number
  • If you want the first page to be without a number, then choose: different first page

Chose Font and Size of Text

Pay attention to the font and change the font to your liking and the font size. To do this, the entire text must be marked again. Then you can change the font and size as you wish and if you don't like something, simply use the Undo or Redo function to compare. You should use a short text to practice.

Title of the document

The title (name) of the document should be formatted as follows:

  • Highlight the title by double-clicking or just click in the line
  • In the Header Bar: Select the Function Heading in styles (below the search function). Sometimes it says Heading 1.
The heading font of the HEADER should then also be changed.
Hover the mouse over Heading and chose: Modify.
Choose the Font as you like, the important thing is this:
Distance to text: See below in the window and select Format - Paragraph - Spacing Before and After so that the header is spaced from the text.

Explanation for Headings and how to build a document.

If you want to create and build a formatted document, you should always work with headings.

Headings are bookmarks

You can then use these headings to access texts directly (Headings are bookmarks). To see them choose: View - Navigation Pane Show

Automatic table von contents

You do this also because these Headings (Bookmarks) are the necessary format for the program to be able to create an automatic table of contents

Heading structure

It is structured like this: Heading 1 must be Old and New Testament. Heading 2 is then the Books, Gospels and Epistels.

How to insert or add a blank page

Insert - Blank Page

Breaks, section breakes and page breakes

There is a lot to learn, which I cannot explain now, but you find the funktion here:

Layout - Breaks

Oohhhhh, I have done to much, that is tooooo much for meeeeeeeeeee!

Therefore, my recommendation is to start with small texts. Or, if you have already begun and there is too much you do not know, leave it for now and start with a short Epistle. Makes Life easier.

Working with documents does not replace reading. It could well be, that you also haven't read enough before. Reading always comes first. Nothing can replace it.

Table of contents

References - Table of Contents.

Choose automatic Table 1 or 2

When the content of the document changes, if the page numbers change, then this table of contents has to be updated. Click the button to the right: update table - update entire table.

Custom the table of contents

see below - custom table of contents

select modify

select again modify

then you can change the style.

Same day: 16:01 Hrs CET

Take out Chapter and replace it with paragraph mark.

  • Write in the search function of the header bar: replace
  • When the window opens, click on :
Find what: CHAPTER + click one empty space with the space bar
  • beneath: More Options: click Match Case in the check box
  • Replace with - More - Special - Paragraph Mark: click this two times, because we need two paragraph marks instead of the Chapters
  • Click: Replace all
  • Close Window

Save Space

You can enter different margins

Mark the entire Text with the mouse or press: Ctrl + a

Write in the Search Function: page setup

Change Margins, according to your needs, for example when the documents ends with just two or three lines on the last page, then I would change the margins and make them smaller. Also for the reason, that printing costs money and usually we do not need big margins.
